Serving the Children of the World

How do we raise money?

We built a mobile kitchen to serve barbecued meals and drinks at charitable and civic events. We cater events ranging from the City of Glendale's Cruise Night (where we serve 1,500 meals) down to Back-to-School nights at Glendale schools with 400 to over 700 guests served. Our biggest event has been the Classic Car and Hot Rod Show with 3,000 guests and over 300 Hot Rods and Classic Cars.

The Jewel City Kiwanis serves food at school and park events, plus the annual City of Glendale Graffiti Paint-Out Day.
We're always looking for new opportunities to use our resources to help the community.

Where does the money go?

To local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Glendale Association for the Retarded Workshop (GAR), Visiting Nurses Hospice, YMCA, YWCA, Glendale Little League, Alzheimer's Association, Red Cross, numerous Glendale schools, Glendale Rose Parade Float Association, The City of Hope, City of Glendale's Parks and Recreation Department, Glendale High School Key Club and Crescenta Valley High School Cheerleaders, Crescenta Valley High School ROTC, and other organizations.

So, What's Cookin’?

We BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs, mesquite chicken and make the best “Kiwanis Fries” this side of Texas! Glendale High School Key Club members help us serve at cooking events. We cook for schools, charitable and civic groups to help them raise funds.

What’s the Latest Buzz

On Friday afternoon October 15th, we were at Glenoaks Elementary School for their Annual Howdy Night. We started serving at around 5:30 pm. By 7:30pm, we served hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries, and drinks to approximately 500 to 600 people. It was quite intense, but we always have a great time. We share the proceeds of our efforts with the school or charitable organization based upon the overall success of the event.
